CLASS 4-A: FIVE COUNTY STADIUM, ZEBULON
FUQUAY-VARINA (26-4) vs. SOUTH MECKLENBURG (25-6)
 Game 1: Friday, May 31 at 8 pm
 Game 2: Saturday, June 1 at 2 pm
 Game 3: if necessary, Saturday, June 1 at 8 pm (5 pm if no 2A game)

CLASS 3-A: NEWBRIDGE BANK PARK, GREENSBORO

NCHSAA Baseball Championship Breakdown and Schedules
                  Some of the top players and teams in North Carolina high school baseball will be trying to add hardware to their trophy cases this weekend in the 96th annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association state baseball championship series.
                  The 2-A and 3-A series will get underway on Friday at Five County Stadium, home of the Carolina Mudcats, while the 1-A and 4-A classifications will get their series going on Friday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, home of the Durham Bulls. All the series are best-of-three games, and each of the teams in the finals survived best-of-three regional championship series.

NCHSAA Board Of Directors Completes Spring Meeting


CHAPEL HILL – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association Board of Directors completed its spring Board meeting on Wednesday at the NCHSAA offices.

"The Board had a very productive meeting over the past two days," said Davis Whitfield, commissioner. "We had a very challenging and comprehensive agenda, but the Board members engaged in thoughtful discussion and looked at our Association matters from a global perspective. I am pleased with the result of this Board session."

Items which the Board studied and approved included:
  • adoption of a "mercy rule" in soccer; if a goal differential of nine is reached by halftime or at any time in the second half, the game shall be terminated, to go into effect for 2012-13; at least one half of game must be completed
  • approved going back to 12 weeks to play 11 football games, starting with 2013 season, and approved two-year football calendar for 2013 and '14
