Carolina Gridiron Unveils Preseason Top 15 Rankings for North Carolina High School Football

CHARLOTTE – As the anticipation for the upcoming high school football season builds, Carolina Gridiron has released its highly anticipated preseason Top 15 rankings for all four classifications in North Carolina. These rankings offer a glimpse into the teams expected to make waves in the 2024 season. With a slew of returning players, each of the state’s defending champions is situated in the top spot to start the season.


In the 4A classification, defending champion Weddington claims the top spot, followed closely by Butler and Grimsley. The Warriors from Weddington are poised to repeat, building on their recent successes and adding additional power through new players on the roster. Butler and Grimsley, perennial powerhouses, are expected to provide fierce competition for the Warriors throughout the season.


Notable entries in the 4A rankings include Independence at number 5, a program with a storied history in North Carolina high school football. East Forsyth and Cardinal Gibbons, ranked 7th and 8th respectively, are also teams to watch, known for their state titles in recent years.

In a week filled with thrilling high school football action, the Week 10 Carolina Gridiron rankings for North Carolina high school football are officially in, offering a comprehensive look at the top teams in each classification. 4A Classification: The 4A classification continues to showcase the dominance of Grimsley, who remains the undisputed leader with an unblemished 8-0 record. In Week 9, Grimsley asserted its authority by defeating Southwest Guilford 49-6. Not far behind, Butler (8-1) secured their spot at second place, winning against Charlotte Catholic 24-21. Weddington (7-1) remained in the third spot with a convincing victory against #14 Sun Valley, finishing with a score of 42-3. Week 5 Carolina Gridiron Rankings: North Carolina High School Football's Elite Stand Tall

North Carolina towns are once again buzzing with excitement as the high school football season charges ahead. Week 5 has brought a fresh set of rankings in the Carolina Gridiron, showcasing the best teams from North Carolina's high school football landscape across all four classifications. As teams jostle for position and new contenders emerge, let's delve into the Week 5 rankings.

4A Classification: Grimsley Stays Atop; Rolesville Jumps Up

In the 4A classification, Grimsley (3-0) retains their stronghold on the top spot. Their impeccable start to the season, combined with their potent performance on the field, has kept them at the pinnacle. East Forsyth (3-0) also holds steady in the second spot.

However, the most significant jump in this classification comes from Butler (2-1). The Bulldogs climbed from seventh to third after a stunning 22-15 victory over Weddington (3-1), who had been ranked third in Week 4. Butler's defense proved impenetrable, helping them secure this substantial leap in the rankings.

Rolesville (3-1) showcased their offensive prowess by defeating Cardinal Gibbons (2-2) with a commanding 52-32 scoreline. This victory propelled Rolesville from eleventh to fifth in the rankings. Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance (4-0) scored a monumental win by defeating 2A's top-ranked team, Reidsville (3-1), with a narrow margin of 19-14. This triumph catapulted Eastern Alamance into the sixth position.
