Ohio Bobcats Win Myrtle Beach Bowl

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – In the fourth installment of the Myrtle Beach Bowl, the Ohio Bobcats (10-3) secured a decisive 41-21 victory over the Georgia Southern Eagles (6-7). Ohio's well-rounded performance, anchored by a stellar defense, marked their fifth consecutive bowl win in seven seasons. The Bobcats' defense played a pivotal role, setting a Myrtle Beach Bowl record with five turnovers and limiting the Eagles to a mere 33 rushing yards. Sixth-year safety Jeremiah Wood shone with an interception and a forced fumble, contributing to what he described as one of the team's best defensive games.

Freshman running back Rickey Hunt emerged as the Myrtle Beach Bowl MVP, delivering an outstanding performance with five total touchdowns, tying a bowl record. Hunt's contribution, combined with graduate student quarterback Parker Navarro's efficient command of the offense, led Ohio to a flawless game without turnovers. Head coach Tim Albin expressed pride in the team's three-phase success, and this victory marked his second bowl win in his third season with Ohio. On the other side, Georgia Southern's quarterback Davis Brin set a passing record for the Myrtle Beach Bowl with 350 yards but faced challenges, throwing three interceptions. Despite a spirited comeback attempt by the Eagles, Ohio's strong defense and Hunt's exceptional performance ultimately sealed the 41-21 triumph.
