UNC Defeats NC State in Rivalry Showdown

UNC amassed more than 500 yards of total offense en route to a 48-21 rout of rival NC State on Saturday afternoon.

 

Postgame Notes

UNC is now 68-36-6 all-time against NC State and has won back-to-back games against the Wolfpack for the first time since winning in 2012 and 2013.

UNC is 3-0 against NC State when both teams are ranked in the AP poll (also wins in 1979 and 1993). Today, UNC was No. 14 and NC State No. 23.

UNC rushed for 326 yards and passed for 252. NC State passed for 358, but the Tar Heel defense allowed only 34 rushing yards.

Ben Finley made Wolfpack his debut coming in in the second quarter.

The Wolfpack's 358 yards passing were the most for a Pack team since the 2018 regular-season finale against East Carolina (421).

 

Notable North Carolinians

Javonte Williams (Wallace-Rose Hill) – rushed for 160 yards, surpassing the 100-yard mark for the third straight game, while scoring three touchdowns

Dyami Brown (West Mecklenburg) – had seven receptions for 105 yards

Emeka Emezie (Marvin Ridge) – had four catches for 84 yards and a touchdown
