Big South 3A Names New Coaches

Mickey Lineberger has been named as the new head coach of the South Point Red Raiders. Lineberger has been an active member of the coaching staff and is replacing John Devine who coached the Red Raiders to 137 wins, 10 conference titles, and two state championships in his tenure. While Devine has moved south to coach at Clover (SC), Lineberger is inheriting a team that went 6-0 in the conference and 9-4 overall, losing to Asheville Erwin in an epic 57-56 second round playoff game.

Looking to turn things around for North Gaston, the Wildcats have named former South Point assistant and North Gaston alum Mike Patton as their new head coach. The Wildcats finished 0-11 last year and are looking to rebound as they face a tough conference schedule including South Point, Crest, and Hunter Huss.
